Privacy Policy

The short version: your family's routines live in your iCloud, not on our servers — we can't see them. No ads, no tracking, nothing sold. Ambleen is a paid app; that's the whole business model.
Who we are
YKL Handle ("we", "us", "our") publishes Ambleen. If you have questions about this policy, please reach out at hello@ambleen.app.
What Ambleen stores, and where
Ambleen stores your family's routines, steps, kids' profiles, sessions, and nudges in your own iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. This means your data lives in Apple's infrastructure under your Apple ID — the same place your notes and photos live when you use iCloud.
When a parent shares a routine with a kid's device, that sync also travels through Apple's CloudKit sharing system, staying entirely within your family's iCloud.
We run no server of our own and keep no copy of your family's data. We cannot read your routines, session history, or anything your family puts into Ambleen. Only you and Apple (subject to Apple's privacy policy) have access.
Purchases
Ambleen is a one-time purchase through Apple's App Store — there is no subscription. Apple processes payment and holds your payment details; we never see your card number or billing address.
We use RevenueCat to validate purchase receipts and confirm your entitlement to Ambleen features. RevenueCat may process a pseudonymous app-user identifier along with purchase and receipt data. RevenueCat does not receive your name or contact details from us.
Optional AI routine suggestions
Ambleen includes a parent-only feature that can suggest steps for a new routine. When this feature is available and you choose to use it, the app may send the short routine title you type (for example, "bedtime") to OpenAI's API to generate suggested steps. This is a convenience feature — it is entirely optional and only triggers when you explicitly request suggestions.
What is never sent to OpenAI: your children's names, session history, schedules, stored routines, or any other data from your family's iCloud. Only the short text you type as a routine title at that moment is shared.
This feature may be limited or inactive at launch; the above applies when it is active.
Voice prompts
Ambleen reads step names aloud using Apple's on-device text-to-speech. Your voice is never recorded, and no audio is uploaded anywhere. Everything happens locally on the device.
Notifications
Ambleen may send local notifications (for example, a gentle reminder when a routine is scheduled to start). These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device — no data about them is sent to us or any third party.
What we do not do
We want to be clear about what Ambleen does not do, because we think you deserve to know:
- No analytics SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, or tracking SDKs of any kind are included in the app.
- No behavioral profiling — we have no record of how you use the app.
- No advertising — Ambleen contains no ads and is not connected to any advertising network.
- No data is sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
- Ambleen uses no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking cookies — neither in the app nor on this website. This website serves its own fonts and makes no third-party requests, runs no third-party scripts, and sets no cookies of our own.
Children's privacy
Ambleen is designed to be used by children under a parent's direct supervision and control. The parent sets up the family's routines and shares them with the child's device. The child's device shows only what the parent has configured.
Your family's data stays in your family's own iCloud, controlled by the parent's Apple ID. We have no access to it. There are no ads, no profiling, and no data collection targeted at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children independently of their parents.
Your rights and choices
Because your family's data lives in your own iCloud and not on our servers, you are already in control:
- Export: You can generate a PDF of your family's routine history at any time from the app (Parent view → History → export).
- Delete: You can delete your data at any time. See the Your Data & Deletion page for step-by-step instructions on removing your data from the app and from iCloud.
- Contact: If you have questions or requests relating to your privacy, email us at hello@ambleen.app.
If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or another jurisdiction with data-subject rights (such as the right to access, rectify, or erase your data), please contact us at that email address and we will respond promptly. Because we hold no copy of your routine data, most requests are best fulfilled by deleting data directly from iCloud — but we are happy to help clarify.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes — changes that meaningfully affect how your data is handled — we will also include a notice in the app when it is next updated. Continuing to use Ambleen after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
